- Organization Profile
I work as a consultant and web developer for nonprofits and social change groups about how to build online movements; engaging, supporter-driven websites; and real-world activism that takes advantage of online social networks. Rootwork powers grassroots networks from the bottom up.
I'm a talented Drupal themer and pride myself at creating sites that fulfill a group's strategic goals around advocacy, membership development and fundraising, yet is easy for nontechnical staff to use. You can find a portfolio of my Drupal work at rootwork.org/portfolio.
I've spoken at Philly Drupal Camp, and I also co-organize Philadelphia NetSquared ("remixing the web for social change"). I've been a featured speaker at the New Organizing Institute, the Internet Advocacy Roundtable, NetSquared Washington D.C. and the Web Executive Seminar. I was recently interviewed for the Case Foundation's study of social entrepreneurship, "Social Citizens." I authored a chapter in the textbook Online Social Networking, and my writing on technology and social change has been published at Idealware.
My proposals for the Genocide Intervention Network were featured projects at the 2007 and 2008 NetSquared Conferences. My technical skills include semantic, standards-compliant and accessible XHTML and CSS, as well as extensive work with Drupal — including membership in the Drupal Association — and the Democracy in Action and CiviCRM platforms.
