Women in Open Source Keynote @ Open Web Vancouver 09 by Angela Byron

Everyone should definitely check out Angie Byron a.k.a webchick's keynote on Women in Open Source. She was awesome (and so was Liza Kindred).

The overall numbers are shockingly bad, BUT in the Drupal community, we are lucky to have webchick. On top of her many contributions to the community she has made it one of her goals to help get women involved. This Drupalchix group is a small example of her efforts.

Category % of Women
Proprietary SW 28%
Open Source 1.5%
Drupal 8-12%

After Jennifer does her presentation in July, what should be talk about next? I think some people would like to see a presentation on "How Users can use Drupal" . Is this something you'd be interested in? What else?

Presentation

Hej!

Promote Drupal

Recently, I had to create a website, for a Penn State course, to search Tv shows. I was free to select any platform to develop the site on and I've picked Symfony php framework. However, couple weeks into the project I realized that Drupal could've saved me so much time and would've been much more reliable. If only someone mentioned Drupal to me at the right moment...

Drupal Tank Topics

Drupal TankWe're looking for topics for Drupal Tank. Please submit your suggestions. I'll create a poll to see what people are thinking about too. Please list different ideas you have. Please volunteer if you have some ideas you would like to present and we can go with those ideas also.

We've had some comments referring to LDAP and Active Directory integration. That's not anything I have experience with but if someone wants to volunteer to put together something on that we are open to that.

We've decided on a multi meeting topic for now on using Organic Groups/CCK/Views/Panels together.

Leave any comments letting the group know what you would like to learn about. I'll crawl through some other discussions and see if I can dig up anything discussed in the past that people wanted to get some education on.

Introduction to Aegir presentation from DrupalCon Szeged

I did a presentation at Drupalcon about Aegir, which included how to install it, what the requirements are and guide
through the user interface.

You can find flash and downloadable versions at archive.org and the slides from the presentation are also available.

Chapman University ACM

I'm currently a member of the Ubuntu California and a junior at Chapman University in Orange, California. I'm currently helping to bring back my school's ACM chapter, and have begun setting up this year's schedule. I'm trying to have a few nights per month dedicated to different events, such as contributing to Mozilla and Ubuntu, movie nights, and presentations. I'd like to have one speaker per month arrive from different aspects of the community to present about topics they love.
