Whoa! [I promised many of you some helpful Drupal links. Please find those at the bottom of this post]
Thanks to all who brought themselves, drinks, snacks, and their Drupal Knowledge. The quarterly Indy Drupal HackFest hit #5 yesterday with a bang! 24 people showed up to share what they know and learn what they don't know. Geographically the group was all over the place; including Kentuckiana, Columbus, Cincinnati, Mishawaka, Indianapolis, and the greater Indiana in general.

Who comes to the Indy Drupal meetups?

While the last meeting was well attended, there were some "regulars" and "long standing" members who weren't able to make it. I have been asked how things are going and who's attending. To that end I offer this post. My goal is to represent the demographics of the group in an accurate way. Please correct any misinformation appearing here.
Our last meeting on January 12th saw the widest spread assortment of Indiana Drupalers we have ever had. Shawn and Josh from Lafayette and Aaron from Bloomington, and Seth [amazing presenter that he is] hailing from Muncie.

Next Meeting

Last meeting 1/12: one of our biggest ever! Thanks in large part to the brothers-Dudenhofer! CONGRATS: James Moriarty & Neil Hastings! Winners of the O'Reilly Lullabot book : "Using Drupal" Looking forward: Should we shoot for a 1/26 meetup? If so, what should we discuss? Do we need to take a step back and cover some more common Drupal topics like taxonomy, path auto, user permissions, user profiles... etc??? What do you want [or NEED] to hear about? Let's talk about it.

Happy New Year!!

OK, I'm a month and a few days early with the Happy New Year.
Here's the scoop.
Monday Dec 1st will be the only meeting in December. It's too crazy of a month to try and squeeze a second one in.
For January let's start off with a meeting on Monday the 5th. Responses to the polls I will be posting will determine where we go from there.
As mentioned, I will posting some polls to see what the group members think about meeting schedules and content.
I know I spend a lot of time on here trying to gauge the group and feel it out and push it along...
Here's why:::

The Indy Drupal Users Group -- Invading Cincinnati?!

Hey Cincinnati Gang, cross-post to Chicago gang...
Doug Vann here. I head up the Indiana group at groups.drupal.org/indiana Myself and 6 of our group just had a blast over at the www.drupalcampchicago.org While there the topic was raised that the midwest Drupalers need to unite and work together.
I'd like to check out one of your meetings maybe in December or January. The megabus.com can get me there non-stop round trip for anywhere from $3 to $20 depending on how early I book it. I could see who in our group would like to join me.

Next meeting?

I have been meeting with some of the group members one-on-one lately and have some more scheduled. It's been fun. If you want to meet for early a.m. coffee on the North or East side or for lunch in the broadriplle-esque area drop me a lline.

As for the next group meeting.
How are we doing? Are we providing value? Are we meeting needs? Are we getting the job done?
I'll submit to the group.... When do you want to get together next as a group and what do you want to accomplish?

I'm game, just let me know.

Drupal Hack Fest

At the last meeting I proposed a 6 hr event to take our time and dig slowly into CCK and VIEWS for Drupal6. The reception was entertaining.
Seth had an excellent response. He suggested a "Drupal HackFest." It would be an opportunity for us to show up and be in the same room and work on our individual projects and help each other out.
I loved it!!!
So what do you say?
Let's take a Saturday and meet at our old Broadripple conference room at noon and just start plugging away.
Ben needs a CCK configuration that would satisfy a real estate site. [I can do that]
