Views – the basics and a bit more (screencast)

(My previous post mysteriously disappeared. Pardon if this becomes a double post.)

I've just ported my Swedish introduction to Views to English! It can be viewed at blip.tv or downloaded from tr.im/drupal.

The screencast is a step-by-step guide into Views (for Drupal 6, of course), covering the following:
* Download and installation
* Creating a simple list page + the basic settings
* Creating a table
* The point of grouping fields
* Creating and enabling a Views block

I've just ported my Swedish introduction to Views to English, and thought this might be a good place to post it.

View it at blip.tv or download it from tr.im/drupal.

It's a step-by-step introduction to Views (D6, of course), showing
* Download and installation
* Creating a simple list page + the basic settings
* Creating a table
* The point of grouping fields
* Creating and enabling a Views block
* Using URL arguments to filter Views
* Using URL arguments to filter Views in a more complex way

Grunder i temabyggande: Firebug

Patterns screencast finally up!

Chris Bryant's Patterns presentation, given at August's SF Drupal User's Group is finally up. (The Flash version is still converting as I write this, so in the meantime if you see the previous "Swish-E" presentation, check out the Patterns video here. )

Drupal 6 Forms API Screencast

This is a very introductory look at Forms API in Drupal 6.

The focus is on basic and practical application, and should allow the newest Drupal programmer to be able to go create his or her own form, in Drupal 6.

Attached is the code for your perusal--It's the same as what's demonstrated in the video, with a bunch of comments. (I would have attached a tarball, but it was not an acceptable file format)

The 30-minute screencast is hosted at blip.tv.

NOTE: In the video, I fail to use check_plain() when outputting some user-generated content...For the sake of you and your web site, don't forget this step. The attached code example is i believe doing it right

Filefield + jQuery Media Screencast

Play the screencast now

Following on the heels of a great thread, I put together a screencast using the CCK Filefield module as a container for video media files and then applying the jQuery Media module to play back those media files in the appropriate player/method. I've been looking for a replacement for the video.module for some time and I wanted to put this recipe under a microscope. Check it out the screenie, feel free to drop me a line if you loved or hated it.

Imagecache + Imagefield Screencast

The blog post on Drupaltherapy
Hosted on Blip

This screencast demonstrates the recipe for Imagecache and Imagefield (for CCK) to build a system for posting images on your Drupal website. This is a robust and flexible system for handling images and has a bright future with more helper modules born every day.

This micro-lesson depends on prior understanding of the CCK module and the Views module. This example uses Drupal 5 since the Image* modules for Drupal 6 are not available (yet).
