Ecommerce module as an invoicing system
I see a need, especially with the large number of freelance developers, for an easy to use invoicing payment system that they can tie directly into their sites. This is exactly what I'm looking for.
What would be the best way for me to accomplish this with the ecommerce module? Now, I personally don't necessarily need the invoicing as I'm sure a lot of people do, but I am wanting the following abilities:
- Create an invoice or order on the site for a particular customer
- Have the customer login to see their "open" invoices
- Have the customer to be able to pay for these invoices using CC or online check
If I can get some information or guidance on how to set these up, I'll be more than happy to give back and write a how to article on this kind of function. Looking around, I think this could be a very valuable aspect to this module. Please let me know if I'm completely going the wrong direction with this and should be looking at another module or custom development.

Drupal ecommerce could be used as a service ordering system or a freelance booking system (I assume that's what you meant)....out of the box, it has options for non-shippable products e.g. service based products. Customers can also login and see their open invoices & make payments.
How you manage the orders amongst your freelancers could be done by utilising the user shop module - which allows registered users (e.g. freelancers) to sell their services/products on your site. I haven't used that module but, it might be useful for dealing with your suppliers.
It's also worth looking at ubercart if Drupal eCommerce doesn't handle some specifics for you.

Neither are integrated with E-commerce module. But, e-commerce API http://www.drupalecommerce.org/api could be an option...

I will have the same need
I will have the same need after some short time. There are additional bookkeeping requirements, also looking for some external solution because invoices will be generated not from 1 single site. If there is proper Drupal solution but with ability to import data - it is perfect!
Any ideas?

I would be interested in building something like this (or at least helping), maybe in a new module - currently just starting with drupal though.. maybe if it is still not done in a couple of months.
