Passionate PHP & CSS developer for a good cause | Marin Local Music
Marin Local Music (http://marinlocalmusic.com - drupal 6.4, php 5.1.6, mysql 5.0.45) is looking for someone with fairly advanced Drupal, PHP, CSS skills to help develop our rapidly growing site which supports and promotes local music in Marin County, California. If you are looking to improve your skills or if you already have skills and want to support local musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area then this is a great opportunity. We don't have money to pay (yet), but after only 90 days we have thousands of visitors and hundreds of registered users who will really appreciate your efforts to support live, local music.
As a veteran software product manager (dozens of products for e-mail and systems management over 10+ years), I know what we need to grow the system and I know what my own limitations are. I'm looking for someone who is comfortable enough with php and css to go beyond basic implementation of contributed modules, but not so bleeding edge that the site is unstable. The site is focused on events so knowledge of the date and calendar modules is a must. I'm pushing cck and views pretty hard already, but I know we can do more. There is a lot more we can do with the social networking aspect for musicians, venues, and other music resources so there is lots of opportunity to try out different things (yes, I have a test environment).
We are getting ready to take the business to the next stage (festivals, more local communities, etc.) so we need the foundation technology to be solid. The next stage will also bring us more revenue (we already have a few sponsors to make it self-sufficient and we are getting a trickle of revenue from merchandise/ticket sales). We do intend to have a dev budget soon, but we are looking for someone who is passionate about the cause to really get us going until then. We can offer many free concerts and access to tons of music industry folks. I'm also happy to provide references and introductions to an extensive network of technology executives.
Please contact me on the site if you are interested. I can assure you that I will be able to properly assess your skills and intentions and will treat you with the respect and flexibility you deserve (and the immense gratitude that goes along with a volunteer gig).
