DC Doc sprint
As some of you may know, I've been neck-deep in Drupal's Doc team work. The doc sprints that we have had at the last two Drupalcons have been a ton of fun and very productive. I'd like to run a local sprint down in DC sometime before the end of the year. The basic idea that I am thinking right now is to find a location that will let us camp out with wifi for about 4-6 hours on a weekend. I'd be there the entire time but others could just drop by as they had time. I'd be there to help folks get situated, find docs tasks that they find interesting and generally answer questions.
I don't have a date/venue yet. This post is for two purposes right now:
1) gauge the interest to get a sense of the size of venue to find
2) see if anyone has space they would donate or recommendations of where we could go (I'm assuming in the 10-20 people range right now)
In terms of venue needs, the basic requirements would be chairs and tables/desks for people to work comfortably and free wifi access. I'd also like to be able to bring in snacks and drinks. Something that is easily accessible on metro would be great. That's about it really.
- Note that you don't need to know how to write well to help with docs. We have tons of things that need help that don't involved writing at all. We even have coding work we need, so devs can play too. ;-) People who are new to Drupal or do not speak English as their first language are particularly valuable and highly encouraged.
So, please feel free to discuss, volunteer or ask questions to help me get a better sense of what to plan. This'll be my first time planning a stand-alone sprint like this so all thoughts and ideas are welcome. :-)

I'm a newbie but I'm happy to come down and do whatever I can.
Possible Location
I'll check to see if it might be possible to host a sprint in one of our large conference rooms in Arlington. I'll post again either way.

Phase2 Space
We have space in Alexandria. We are about a mile from the Braddock Road metro stop. I realize something closer to the metro would be preferable. Just throwing it out there though.

Would Like to Come
I'd love to come to this.
My weekends are pretty tight and Sundays are way better than Saturdays for me. Can't commit till I know a specific date -- but if the stars are aligned, I'll be there.

Same here
Same here,
I'd love to find time to collaborate on this one. October could be somewhat difficult for me but after that and before the Christmas break I should be game.
Cheers,

I'd be willing to attend if I'm available when it happens.
what kind of sprint
Generally code sprints have a theme, or a specific problem they want to address. Getting together a bunch of coders and telling them to make it work is asking for trouble.
Any thoughts on what you would want to address? I could REALLY use some help on the widget factory module I have been working on, the authoring interface uses a lot of jquery and it is all messed up.

Documentation
This would specifically be a documentation sprint so generally we'd focus on:
Of course, specific tasks would be narrowed down, depending on what needs most attention when the sprint happens. The idea is mainly to introduce people to docs tasks and show people how to accomplish them, then let them go nuts. Often this means I spend time adding people to the documentation team, answering questions, teaching people about IRC, showing them how to use the issue queue, etc. Attendees that can help with that are just as welcome as people who want to dig into the issue queue or do copy-editing.

I'm glad to copy-edit. My AP and Chicago style books await.
I'll be there!
If we're looking for a coffee house type of setting, SOVA on H street NE has a great space with wi-fi and lots of room. I think it's too far from Union Station to walk, but the bus will get you there quickly.

I could make it in
I'm a newbie still plugging away at my first site and would be happy to join in.
Might be in Chicago for the DrupalCamp on Oct 24-25, but could make it down to DC other weekends.... sites close to a Metro stop are much easier for me.
Tentative plans
For anyone who is interested I wanted to keep you apprised of what I'm thinking. I have tentatively reserved a meeting room at the central DC library (MLK). It is close to both the Metro Center and Gallery Place metro stops, has wifi and will allow us to bring in our own food. The main limitation is we can only have the room for a 3 hour max, but I think that'll be fine for a first sprint. (Maybe we can also use the opportunity to see if this location would work for future labs.)
The room is currently reserved for 2-5 pm, Saturday
OctoberNovember 8 (EDIT: duh, get the right date). Sunday didn't work as well with available hours. We can sprint for a few hours and then for anyone that wants to stick around we could roll over to Chinatown for food and drinks after.I'll create an Event post here once I get the details smoothed out.

Same day as BarCamp Philly
I'm a bit torn here- this is the same day as barcamp Philly. With that said, I'm pretty sure I'll be coming, and I think my biz partner Jody will as well.
