Em Space Drupal training in Australia

This is an update about Em Space training services.

We were using the CAE training labs (in Melbourne) for training, but this was a bit too rigid. So we've limited ourselves to corporate training, training teams at our clients' premises.

However, we now have a flexible training service that can travel around. This means we will be able to train in unusual places with minimal preparation in advance. This also means that we can use our own offices for training - avoiding the pain of booking venues, but also keeping our space flexible (not having to lock it up with cheap desktop PCs).

Linux Conference Australasia, Wellington January 2010

Penguins Crossing; LCA Wellington 2010 logoLinux Conference Australasia (aka LCA, linux.conf.au) will be in Wellington 18-23 January 2010 – 6 and a half months from now. This presents opportunities for the NZ Drupal community to;

  1. Promote Drupal in the wider FLOSS community (which is good for business)
  2. Run a DrupalCamp/Conference; which allows attendees to combine expenses if attending LCA, and organizers to share venue, admin, financial and other resources with LCA.
  3. Just hang out and drink & talk Drupal! Or perhaps (talk) and (drink drupal)!? :)

It is expected there will be of the order of 600-700 attendees ar LCA.

Help for the graphically challanged

I was shown a bit of software the other day called Artiseer (http://www.artisteer.com) and thought it was worth sharing with the group as it might be of great assistance to a number of people. It's a (windows based) tool which allows you to generate good looking Drupal themes by clicking buttons (colour schemes, pictures, layouts, page styles, buttons etc). Its fantastic for people such as myself who are absolutely hopeless at doing the graphical side of site development. So far I've only played with it and not done anything production worthy but it looks promising.

Help with bulk organic ecommerce site

We're looking for some voluntary developer help to build some more functionality into a bulk organic ordering system, its a co-op style and non-profit.

I have built it using drupal 5.x and ubercart 1.7 and works fairly well, we've put thru 5 bulk orders to suppliers so far.
We are looking to improve a bit on UC reporting and only allowing ordering during certain times during each month. (We're not using any payment gateways either)

Its still in beta and we hope to share/duplicate out the system to other co-ops around NZ if successful.
