Montreal & Quebec

Welcome all pal'ers from la Belle Province. This is a space to set up local meet-ups and create working groups for Quebecois issues (internationalization anyone?).

Now if someone could upload a picture of a large size serving of poutine I think we'll have our identity nailed, n'est-ce pas?

Towards a proposal for DrupalCon Montreal 2012

Montreal would be a great place to hold a DrupalCon. Not only is it a great city that people actually want to visit, being outside of the US avoids participants having to worry about crossing the US-border, which is a widely recognised as a limiting factor for international events that take place in the US.

Bilingual Menus / Canadian Way

Hi Canadian Guys and Girls

How to display the switch language bar in the main menu like you do on your sites (government and community alike and switch between Fr/En without showing the other menu? I would like to do a site following the Canadian way (language switcher in the center menu and when you click one language you go the respective side). I'm using D6 with Internationalization/Localization/Nices menues modules

I work on local server, have all pages in 2 languages : en/es, but menu tabs in both languages appear in the menu central bar, can you help me with this?

DBN.ca videos for the Montréal DrupalCamp 2009

All the high-res videos made by DBN.ca for the Montréal DrupalCamp 2009 have now all been transfered to Ryan through FTP. Ryan should update you on where and when you will be able to see the videos through your browser.

At DBN, we will also create a page with information on how to get a DVD version or look at the HD version. Please check back here in a few days.

New ways to promote Drupal in Montreal

All Drupal service providers in Montreal and Quebec have a vested interest in promoting the adoption and advancement of Drupal regionally. It's for this that TP1 has taken the initiative in spreading the word on advancements and events related to Drupal in Montreal by utilizing some additional channels to reach broader audiences.

We have created a Facebook Page for news and events related to Drupal Montreal. We believe Facebook Pages are an effective mechanism to reach the broader audience of Facebook users.

Drupal Meetup - Views Tips/Tricks

Hey gang,

Not sure what has happened to our local meetups; maybe slowed down over the summer, and maybe not this month due to Montreal DCamp... but..

I wouldn't mind presenting a session on Views for Drupal 6.

For those that don't know Views (aka Views 2) in Drupal 6 has been completely redone from Drupal 5 days.. and IT ROCKS!!! No, seriously, Views2 is by far the most powerful web creation tool on the planet. Even if you were pretty familiar with Drupal 5 Views; you'd really need to see Views2 to get an idea of just how powerful this is.

BoF Planning Wiki Page

BoFs are now organised in low-tech in the main hall in front of registration.

To suggest a BoF, head to the main hall and write it down on a small paper, and pin it where you want in the schedule. Make sure you mention what your session about and your name, and make sure you attend your own session (duh).

If someone is already where you want to be, you can go talk to that person to arrange something, but do not move existing sessions without telling people that are already there.

There are two rooms available for BOFs:
* C412 – on the fourth floor

Volunteers needed for the Camp!

Hey folks,

We need some volunteers for this years camp, to help with reception and during sessions. Volunteering is a great chance to meet other drupallers and increase your networking opportunities at Drupal Camp Montreal, not to mention getting some rep.

If you're interested, please respond to this post or send me an e-mail (sofian(at)koumbit.org) with your contact info, name, what you're interested in doing, and when you're available over the weekend. Here are the places we most need volunteers:

  1. Reception - meet, greet and sign-up new arrivals

D7CX sprint linkup?

I was talking to DamZ and amye in #drupalcon on IRC today, they expressed an interest in doing some kind of linkup session between DrupalCamp Montreal and the D7CX stuff happening in Vancouver that same weekend.

We were discussing logistics but I had to rush off because of a family emergency so I just wanted to put it on record here. I won't have time to do much about it over the next few days so if anyone else wants to talk to them and try to work something out that would be great.
