Florida
We are a growing group of Drupal developers!!! ... Florida is a really big state. We will need to develop groups in the major urban areas and try to coordinate...
We are open to all that want to join .... but I like the name drupalgators much better than seminoledrupers
July meetup?
I'd like to offer to do a presentation on the Context module for the July meetup.

Posted some details on building installation profiles
For anyone who attended the Florida May meeting where I presented a case study on my work for ScubaDiving.com, which focused a lot on installation profiles.. well I finally posted some details on my blog on how I built it, along with some related details:

Central Florida June Meetup
Join us on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 1-5PM for a 2-topic, 4 hour meetup at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs.
Next Meetup?
Hello again Florida ... I've been out of town working on different projects for a while and am back in the neighborhood looking for the next meetup. Any idea when that might be or what topics might be covered?
Sr. Drupal Developer | Bonnier Corporation
<
p>Bonnier is looking for an experienced Drupal developer to help create innovative new Web sites for a suite of publishing clients.
Drupal Developer | Content Creators
We're looking for a talented Drupal developer for a blog web site that will be a hub for a community in South Florida. I represent a group of very talented, experienced writers, photographers and videographers looking for a Drupal developer in South Florida (spanning Miami to West Palm Beach.) At this point, we're looking for a developer for a single web site, but we certainly want a long term relationship that may lead to more work with a focus on new, online communities and social networks.
Maintaining Dev & Production Sites
Does anyone out there have experience with maintaining a Drupal production site on a hosted Linux platform, but your internal development site is on WAMP? I'm trying to use the Backup and Migrate module (backup_migrate) to do backups from the production site (1&1 Hosting on Linux) to my local server (XAMPP on Windows 2003 Server). What I've run into is that if you are using images within a node using TinyMCE editor and WYSIWYG, are different paths on the different platforms.
Contract-to-Hire Full Time Drupal Developer | Florida Hospital
Florida Hospital is seeking one contract-to-hire Drupal / PHP guru to work on some exciting new web projects. Florida Hospital is one of the nation's largest hospitals, treating more than 1,000,000 patients annually. Even though we're a large organization, our award winning web team has a creative "agency" type vibe.
The right candidate will bring these qualities & abilities to the team:
• Experience with Drupal Framework
• Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, XML, Ajax, D/X/HTML, CSS, web standards, and developing RIAs
Mini-meetup and DrupalEasy Podcast
Join us for an almost-spur-of-the-moment social Central Florida Drupal meetup this Sunday, May 24 at 7PM at Icebar Orlando. We'll be recording a DrupalEasy podcast so we thought it would be a good time to try to get everybody together.
There won't be any presentations or planned topics - just a chance to hang out with your fellow Florida Drupalers.

Using Arguments in a Block View with Views2 and Pathauto
Hey guys,
Im asking this here cuz you guys are the most knowledgeable drupalers i know! (and im getting no love on #drupal-support) And also, I found Ryan Price's article on DrupalEasy relating to this but not quite the same... http://drupaleasy.com/blogs/ryanprice/2008/06/using-views-2-drupal-6-create-related-pages-block
Central Florida May, 2009 Meetup - Wrapup
The Florida Drupal Users Group (Central Florida edition) had their monthly meetup on Saturday May 16 with 16 people in attendance.
Andrew Riley (Drupal User ID: Andrew M Riley) talked about the creation of OrcaBaySeafoods.com, a Drupal 6 powered site built by his company Mind Comet.
3 Day Drupal Training in South Florida

Michael Anello (ultimike) and Ryan Price (liberatr) of the Florida Drupal Group, DrupalCamp Florida, and the DrupalEasy Podcast have joined forces to provide Florida and the Southeastern US with an opportunity for high-quality Drupal Training. Our first 3-day workshop will be held in North Miami Florida less than 2 weeks from now. Here are some more details:

Central Florida Meetup Writeup - Saturday, April 25th, 2009
This past Saturday's meetup was relocated to the nearby Panera Bread due to the Mindcomet offices being closed. Only two attendees made the trek - caelon@drupal.org/Don and myself. We spent about an hour generally hacking on our individual projects - Don was working on a site which had some permissions issues with his custom module, and I added a feature to the WP2Drupal module I'm maintaining. While a pitifully small turnout, it still at least meant that FLDrupal has made its past its first year anniversary and is now onto Year 2.0!
Nodeaccess vs Node_access
In researching modules for finer permission control, I found 2 modules with almost the same name. Anyone recommend one over the other?

Central Florida Meetup - Saturday, April 25th, 2009
It's a week late due to BarCamp Orlando, but the April edition of the (central) Florida Drupal User's Group is having our monthly meeting.
Join us at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs for a 2-hour, 1 topic meetup.
module with multiple dates
I have been trying to shoehorn a specific form into drupal using cck and views, then date api with cck and views, and it just ain't working. :) What I am trying to do is track when issues of a magazine arrive. So I want fields for title and issue, and fields that can be filled in when the magazine arrives. I could do this with MySQL and PHP, but in this particular situation end user access would be easier if I could put it on a drupal site. Does anyone know of a module that might fill the bill?
Thanks,
Carol
Where to stick includes for modules?
I am in the process of moving a series of php pages over from another CMS to Drupal. The first page came over fairly easy as it was just a print out of a report. I have probably ten other pages to bring over begging this question...
Mini Drupal hackfest at BarCamp Orlando
I'm trying to organize a mini Drupal hackfest for tomorrow's BarCamp Orlando, please let me know if you're interesting in joining in.
The tentative plan is to try to build at least a starting point for a site for a local user group, but if that falls through (or even if it doesn't) there's always lots of Q'n'A we can do, module hacking, docs writing, etc.
Thoughts? Flames?
BarCampOrlando 3
Represent the Drupal community at BarCamp! It's one week from today!
BarCampOrlando is back and is going to be bigger and better than ever. The Orlando Scene has quickly proven it can put on one of the premier BarCamp events in the US, and quite possibly the world.

BarCampOrlando is a 1 day 'unconference' offering all attendees the opportunity to share their knowledge by giving short talks on ANY subject. This year we will have 3 different rooms to showcase the participants and sessions of different lengths to accommodate more content then you can shake your marshmallow stick at.

BarCamp by it's nature has no schedule, no keynote speaker, and no main topic of conversation - the participants decide the who, what, how, why and when - we just pick the where!
Delay April Meetup By One Week to Avoid BarCamp Orlando?
Since BarCampOrlando is Saturday, April 18th (the day of our next schedule Florida Drupal meetup), how about we delay the meetup until Saturday, April 25th at 1PM?
I didn't want to just go ahead and make the call by myself, so please chime in and share your thoughts about this shift.
If you're not aware of BarCampOrlando - you should be. Check it out. You'll want to be there. DrupalEasy is a sponsor, so you know it's gonna be cool.

Does it matter that the "Florida" group doesn't fit the g.d.o guidelines?
A call for action from the Drupal 7 UX team
I'm a n00b to Drupal but I have found it to be a very powerful tool over the past couple months and have dived in head first. The User Experience has been something I've run into problems with because it's intimidating to people who are not as Web/CMS savvy. The team working on the UX for Drupal 7 has asked the community to get involved now in the UX design so that it's not rejected later when it's too late. You can read/view more about it here and here.
Themer and or Designer/Themer | Chittenden Communications
We are in need of someone who is facile with theming. This person can either design the look and feel for a website and then render that design into a functioning Drupal theme or take someone else's design (eg from a Photoshop mock-up) and render it into a functioning Drupal theme.
Your time on the job is completely yours to manage as long as you meet pre-agreed-upon deadlines.
We have a job pending where we need this service and several more in the pipeline.
March Central Florida Meetup Wrapup
Thanks to everyone for coming out to the March (central) Florida Drupal User's Group meetup yesterday at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs. We had about 10 people there, including 1 new person.
We started the meetup with a DrupalCon DC discussion. 5 of us at the meetup were at DrupalCon, so we decided to run through the DrupalCon schedule and give (very) quick summaries of the sessions we found most interesting and the top one or two things we learned. It was a fairly quick and informative way to cover things.
Central Florida Meetup
Join us for our monthly meetup at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs for a 4-hour, 2 topic meetup.
We'll be talking about the recent DrupalCon DC, Andrew will be talking about the WYSIWYG module, and I'll (Mike) will be going more in depth with Ubercart with some add-on modules.
I need a Drupal speaker for Sunday March 15
I attended Florida Drupal Camp was really impressed. I am on the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Computer User Groups (FACUG) and program chair for our 16th annual conference March 13-15 in Zephyrhills, Florida. Cheryl Wilson, our web mistress http://www.facug.org also attended the Camp and is scheduled to do a presentation about Drupal at our confernce.
Meeting Topic Ideas
I thought I'd start a wiki page where we can discuss topic ideas for future meetings.

Skype meeting on March 25
It seemed remarkable that a community the size of Tampa Bay has no Drupal Users Group. So Mike Wright and I decided to start one. If you are a Drupal user and live in the Tampa Bay environs: first, please join our group; second, attend our organization meeting on March 25 at 7:30 pm.
The meeting will be held via Skype. Details for connecting and the agenda will be posted within a week of the meeting date.
Our current plan is to have about three Skype meetings per quarter and one meet-up. For what? Come to the March 25 meeting and let's figure out how we can be helpful to one another.
February Meet-up Wrapup
The (central) Florida Drupal Users Group has a meetup yesterday at MindComet in Altamonte Springs. About 10 people were present, including several new faces that attended DrupalCamp 2 weeks ago.
-
Comments/Lessons Learned from DrupalCamp - see Andrew's post for a summary of what we discussed.
-
We had a brief discussion about having remote speakers at future meetups as well as live streaming of future meetups. Nothing concrete was decided on, but everyone seemed interested in pursuing both ideas.
Central Florida February Meetup
Join us at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs for a 2-hour, 1 topic meetup.
We don't have an "official" topic as of yet, so I was thinking that maybe we could do some Ubercart stuff together. I know a few of us have some experience with it, working together, we could no doubt all learn something.

Drupal Developer | Scribes & Shooters
I represent a group of very talented, experienced writers, photographers and videographers looking for a Drupal developer in South Florida (spanning Miami to West Palm Beach.) We’re seeking someone who can turn static websites into more active, beautiful content managed websites with a focus on new, online communities and social networks.
While I understand most of this can be done through telecommuting, this team will want some face-to-face contact, and we think some knowledge of South Florida and its communities is a necessity.
Great Florida DrupalCamp
Thanks to Joe Moraca for helping me install Drupal on my laptop and to Bob O'Leary for helping me trouble shoot at the Florida DrupalCamp . Thanks to EVERYONE who helped put together the Florida Drupal Camp yesterday. You made me a Drupal enthusiast! See some pictures at http://tinyurl.com/dbpc8f
I wanted to share a problem and fix that I had yesterday. After the install, I got an error and at least one other person did too. The error message was:
HTTP request status Fails

DrupalCamp Florida - 4 days away!
Woo Hoo - we're only 4 days away from Florida's first DrupalCamp!
We have over 100 people signed up (http://drupalflorida.eventbrite.com/) for the event on this Saturday, February 7th at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs.
Jobs board?
Companies always seem to have a shortage of experienced Drupal developers to hire, and there's always someone looking for work. How about we set up a job board to let the two connect? Maybe ask a fee for anyone posting a job listing (something small to help cover minor costs, maybe $20-50 per listing), but let anyone looking for work post their business cards/info for free? Or just do both for free.

Drupal Meetup Wrapup and DrupalCamp Planning Notes
The monthly meetup of the (central) Florida Drupal User's Group took place on Saturday, January 17 at the MindComet office in Altamonte Springs. Eight people attended the meetup and we covered 3 topics: Andrew Riley presented a case study of the Disney's Children's Hospital web site, Ryan Price talked about the menu system in Drupal 6, and then we all continued the planning of DrupalCamp Florida - to be held February 7.
More details after the break...
