Event Management Systems
Welcome to the Drupal events working group. This group is for discussion of modules and code related to events, calenders, timezones, and related issues. This is NOT a group for posting about (real or virtual) meetups and similar "events".
Selling tickets based on a CCK date field
Hello folks,
I'm trying to work out a way to sell tickets to events in our calendar product. The idea would be that each event is also an ubercart product type. I'm using a cck date field to denote the event dates. Ideally we want to have this working so that a user could visit the event page, and purchase a ticket for a specific date as defined by this cck date field. The other caveat is that this needs to be automated, Requiring that a person enter in a new product for every date occurrence is just unfeasible in in this application.
Organizing evenents across timezones, adjusting user timezone
I am currently working on http://www.nobleprog.com site.
The idea is to make "time discovery" process as easy as possible. Usually we spend a lot of time trying to find suitable time for the trainer and the delegates. It is even more complicated if it is a distance course.
So, so far when a person books the course, they propose the time, then the time is accepted or adjusted by the trainer and then goes back to the client.
Of course each time is presented in "users timezone".
My question is:
Should the signup module require the views module?
Event registration requirements for Church Volunteers use-case: Signup, Webform or others?
Hi - here are some requirements for a Church volunteer event registration use-case. I posted this previously on the Churches groups...
I'm struggling about what modules to use for event volunteer registration for my church.. I'm down to the signup module http://drupal.org/project/signup and the webform module http://drupal.org/project/webform but I cant get all the functionality we need with just one of them.
A better name for this group!
The name of this group is a big lengthy and it's hard to tell people the URL at conference.
Wiki page to suggest/discuss/vote on a replacement.
Be bold!
Discussion from Drupalcon Paris
Use cases
- Export data to Excel
- Record data per event (do you need babysitting?)
- Record data per user (profile?)
- Allow sign-up with no email address
- Allow reserve lists for over-subscribed events
- Allow booker to amend profiles/details of all the attendees he/she signs up
- Allow printable name badges (print from browser on standard labels, like avery 5395) and signup lists
- Allow sign-up and user registration in one step with a checkbox (combine profile and sign-up forms)
Potential current solutions in Drupal (and their problem)
signup
I've given signup module a quick spin.
My thoughts so far -- please add your own :)
- allows anon signup. Yay! But requires email. Not so good, but can perhaps be worked on with the visitor API?
- hardcoded name + phone field. Not everyone wants phone, people need other fields.
- lots of other fields -- conferences need food preferences, partial day bookings, etc, etc. Have suggested using webform here
- form data is stored serialized -- no good for Views integration.
- no way to sign up many people at once, but there's an issue open for this.
Creating a new installation profile from the DrupalCampLA conference website
The team at This By Them worked with LA Drupal organizers to design and develop a tremendously useful conference website, and released it under the GPL (see case study). With the advent of modules such as Patterns and Features, we are now able to turn this site into customizable/configurable installation profile.
Would you come to an Event-related code BoF at DrupalCon Paris?
Implementation ideas
I think that there are several key elements to growing Drupal into a capable registration system:
- The holding space for the events related information
- The storage of data related to the event
- Tracking people related to the event
- Tracking attendance
- The registration process
- The process of setting up an event
Points 3 and 4 are interrelated - if you only track attendance, then point 3 is redundant. Point 3 applies when you track other relationships, for example, whether someone is a prospective attendee.
Using webform and UC: uc_webform_productize -- an analysis
I'm currently looking at http://drupal.org/project/uc_webform_productize with a view to how it could be used for event registration.
My current use case is:
- one site
- several events
- registration is paid
- events have options such as how many days you want to attend, diet requirements. these affect price.
Calendar Module for Drupal
I am looking for the most recommended calendar module for drupal 6. This is for a non-profit that wants to display a master events calendar for the community. Have several users be able to update with events and everyone else just to view.
I have downloaded and tried a few, nothing really seems that good.
Looking for your input.
Thanks so much,
-JP
Edit by Michelle: This question has nothing to do with the chat module group it was posted into. Moving to what seems like a more appropriate group.
Developing common code: use cases and ideas?
Hello everyone!
At the recent DrupalCamp UK session on running events with Drupal, the current state of things was awarded a resounding 3/10.
Several of us agreed that we should aim to work together to produce reusable, generic modules, rather than keep building one-shot sites.
Obviously this requires more effort and organization, but the benefits are considerable :)
So to get the ball rolling: what do we need from event sites? What use cases do we have? What do we need to consider?
create event from calendar clicking on date
I`m trying to make a calendar block with clickable dates. this is for a guest house to make reservations.Clicking on date would take to /node/add/my_event/2009-06-05 or /node/add/my_event/?date=05-05-2009 or similar. I want to pass the date as argument to "create content" form. any guest has access to create this type of node, but the default state is "unpublished" so that only administrator can approve (publish) the node. after that the created event would appear in calendar block and have CSS "has-event" definition (e.g. red color).
Geo June - Participate!
Help move Drupal a crucial step closer to being a true Geospatial CMS!
The Drupal community and the Twin Cities Drupal Group invites us all for Geo June, a month-long series of events and collaborative projects. There will be coding, documenting and demonstrating solutions for data collection and mapping.
You can join in the fun by helping the issue queue for Geo and related modules, or by participating in other ways:
Movie Show Times Service for a City Newspaper
Hey all,
I've seen a few services on the web that offer a widget or plugin to a web site to automatically populate the show times for a particular area. Fandango, to mention one.
The newspaper site I'm building needs to have film listings available on it, and currently, all we are doing is copying and pasting the show times from our paper into our CMS (non-Drupal as of now), and we need to update those same files each week for the films coming up. Ya, not a classy way to show events.
Multi signups per node
Hi all,
My club meets up every week on Thursday for 2 hours from 7pm to 9pm. For each meeting, we have some roles need to be signed up, each role takes from 2 minutes to 15 minutes or so.
So the things we need to do is signing up before the meeting starts. it looks like this:
time roles member action
2 role1 signup
5 role2 signup
5 role3 signup
Organic Groups and Views Calendar
Hi,
It seems that 2 main tasks are not supported by a combination of those 2 modules:
- Show me events from all my groups (where I am a member) on one Calendar view.
- Show me events from the group whos homepage I'm viewing right now (doesn't matter I am a member or not). - this is handled by og_calendar and event module combo.
I was working offline whole day yesterday and didn't find out any solution.
Any ideas ?
Cheers,
BeNone
